HISTON RESERVES  2
HARWICH & PARKESTON  0
10 April 2008

Harwich were on last night for this game against Histon Res or should I say Histon first team as they fielded more than 8 of their first team from the Blue Square Conference side.

There were 18 points between the two sides before the game with Histon rock bottom of the league, the game kicked off at a pace and it was end to end for the first 10 minutes. It was not long before Histon pushed forward and put the Harwich defences under pressure however the back four kept them at bay, 20 minutes in and Lee race had to come off due calf strain and was replaced by Steve Townes, Harwich started to get back into the game before half time when Histon went one up after a goal mouth clearance that went straight to the Histon forward who put in the back of the net leaving Wootten with no chance.  half time Histon Res 1 Harwich 0

Half time talk Tony told the lads to lift there heads high and get out and play the way we can and we'll get something out of the game.

Harwich kicked off the second half and within five minutes Histon scored again, a cross from the right was met by a Histon forward banged it in the net. As the game went on Harwich got back into the game and pushed forward with Page and Defoe coming close to scoring, with ten minutes remaining Liam Morley came on for Defeo, it was nice to see Liam back after a long lay off. The game finished Histon 2 Harwich 0. I have to say Harwich did themselves credit against a strong Histon side and can hold their heads up high, there were several Harwich players who could have been man of the match but for me Matt Stace was outstanding in the back four.
