Harwich go back top of the Southern section under 18's Ridgeons Youth League. With the Reserve team playing the following day Harwich used there squad depth well, leaving out some key players out completely and benching two others, After a 2 month lay off through postponements and weather Harwich started surprisingly well Reece Harris dominant from the start playing against his college team mates from Colne College, Ollie Mann went close early on with Matt Walker the Wivenhoe keeper saving low down to his left, Harwich's back four of Jordan Knight, the ever improving Daryl Johnson, Dan Harrison and Little Oakley 1st team starlet Lee Sharp outstanding throughout, playing alongside senior players at Lt Oakley has improved Lee Sharp's game no end, with Lee the most vocal of the back four organising his fellow defenders for the whole 90 minutes.
Harwich took the lead through the majestic Dom Warren, Reece Harris whipped in a left foot cross which Dom met with his head burying the ball in the bottom right hand corner, Harwich controlled the 1st half, Michael Hammond & Phil Taylor dominant in the middle of midfield.
Harwich brought on Luke Good for the second half to steady the right hand side and it worked well, Good went on a run down the right hand side cutting in to supply Jordan Knight with a perfect pass, but Knights effort just clipping the crossbar and going safe, Harwich created chance after chance but could not finish, fortunately the back four in front of the ever improving Elliot Harrison in the Harwich goal controlled any attack thrown at them by Wivenhoe, Scott Yearling came on for Wivenhoe to try and stop the constant threat of Reece Harris, and for a while it worked but the guile and skill of Harris nearly gave Harwich a second goal of the night beating three players and whipping in a superb low cross for Ollie Mann to meet but his effort cleared off the line. Final score a well deserved 0-1 win for Harwich keeping them on course to finish high up the league table.
