SWAFFHAM  3
HARWICH & PARKESTON  8
19th April 2008

Dave is right it was not a typing error, Swaffham  3 Harwich& Parkeston 8. Team talk before the game Tony told the players to go out and carry on were they had left off against Wroxham though we lost 1-0 in the 94th minute we had out played Wroxham, the only change for today's game Matt Carmichael replacing Jimmy Chatters who was unavailable.

Harwich kicked off down the slope first half for this bottom of the table battle within 10 minutes Swaffham had taken the lead when Harwich failed to clear a long throw and Muggleton fired home. Harwich game back into the game quickly when Defeo turned in a Carmichael cross to put Harwich on level terms it was end to end football with Harwich starting to take control of the game, Carmichael's shot from 25yard shot put Harwich ahead after 20 minutes. Defeo headed Harwich further ahead and completed his first half hat trick when he lobbed the goalkeeper from the edge of the box. Half-time Swaffham 1 Harwich 4

Half time talk not a lot to be said by the Manager, just keep plugging away at them most of the players were out on the pitch a good 5 minutes before second half kick off. Harwich kicked off and were straight back in the game with sterling work from Carmichael, once again Defeo shot home his fourth goal to put Harwich further ahead.

Swaffham pulled one back when Julien fired home but Harwich increased the lead when Bloss fired home from the edge of the box. Swaffham did not give up the ghost and won a  penalty which King fired home, Harwich pushed forward and soon added further goals from Barrett and in the last minute Griggs made it 8 with a powerful header.

I am trying to work out the last time a Harwich side scored 8 goals in a game I am sure someone will let me know. It was a great result for us well done to the lads, I must say a big thank you to Swaffham for giving the match ball to hat trick man Deffeo. My man of the match it could be any one of 11 players therefore it goes to the whole team.

We were all left numbed after we learnt that Ben Quade had suffered a bad leg break and the game was abandoned at Sudbury after 15 minutes.  I am sure I am right in saying we all wish Ben well for the future Ben has been a great servant to Harwich over the years. I understand Ben will be in Colchester Hospital for at least 10 days, I will try and keep you all up to date on his progress.
