Harwich Under 18's were crowned league winners & champions tonight on a rain swept Royal Oak, in front of a good crowd with the Vice Chair and several committee members present (including a very sickly looking Barry the vomit Vernon).
Phil Harrison's young chargers deserved the title, they are without doubt the best footballing team in the division. Tonight's game started a very close & tight knit affair with both defences dominant, Little Oakley 1st team star Lee Sharp and  Harwich  reserves Daryl Johnson at centre halves dominant, but most creative of the back four the sublime Jordan Knight at right back whose link up play with right winger Dan Harrison has been a delight to watch, the young buck of the squad James King who recently turned 16 at left back is one to follow in the future he also had a great game and in the second half created plenty down the left. Harwich's 1st Harwich goal  came from a quick throw from Elliot Harrison out wide to Knight who released Dan Harrison and 2 quick slick passes later finished with Andy Hammett smashing the ball home.  Within minutes though Long Melford where level Michael Hammond the Harwich skipper dispossessed on the left and a pin point pass found Melford 1st team regular Carl Daw through on goal to finish well.

Second half Harwich where awesome Luke Good & Phil Taylor in the centre of Harwich's midfield controlled the game with both covering acres of space and endeavouring to please the Harwich manager Phil Harrison by playing the ball wide to the wide-men Dan Harrison & Michael Hammond, and if Harwich had there shooting boots on should have scored 4-5 goals with ease, the winner came with 15 minutes left on the clock once again Dan Harrison the creator beating the right back with ease and swinging the ball over for Michael Hammond to rise like a salmon to head the ball into the back of the Melford net. Luke Randall back after a two month lay off and debutant Phil Charles came on with 20 to go for Andy Hammett & Phil Taylor respectively and both done well. Harwich through there flair player Luke Good still created chances but for once Ollie Mann could not get on the score sheet, but to his credit Ollie Mann who over the season has been lethal and by far the best striker in the league worked tirelessly for his team mates. Well done to the squad of players and management team of Phil Harrison & Michael Wildney with just one defeat and a draw won the league with ease and with two thirds of the squad still eligible for next season whose to say the feat will not be repeated next season
