LOWESTOFT 3
HARWICH & PARKESTON 1
24 February 2008
Well what a week it as been, Robbie May Jnr and Mark
Sharp both standing down after the game against Stanway and Tony Armstrong
taking over as caretaker Manager with Paul Harris, reserve team manager
assisting Tony and myself in the dugout again.
It is not the first time Tony as been in charge at HARWICH he is a great
motivator and knows the game inside out
The team talk before the game against Lowestoft was electric, both Tony and Paul giving there all to get the players going for the game, not giving my age away I have had the privilege to serve under both Tony and his late father Eric.
The game kicked off in a swirling wind with both sides finding it hard to get going, Harwich had the better chances in the first 30 minutes, Chatters had a couple of half chances before Lowestoft took the lead with Mcgee giving Wootton no chance. Three minutes on Cockrill was given a red for upending Lee Barratt but just before the break Mcgee scored his second goal of the game. Matt Carmichael pulled up with hamstring and was replaced by the young Ollie Mann. On the stroke of half-time Martin Calver put one past his own keeper to make it 3-0. Until the last few minutes of the first half Harwich were still in the game.
Half-time talk was hard, to the point and fair, Lee Barratt was taken off at half-time and replaced by Lee Race, it was thought that Lee Barrat who was on a yellow card would soon get a red. It was Lee Race's first match for nearly six months, the second half kicked off with Harwich starting to take control of the game against 10 man Lowestoft and soon pulled one back with a long free kick which Page was on hand to fire home through the legs of Reynolds. Harwich were unlucky not get a second goal if we had pulled a goal back it would have been a great game of football in the last 10 minutes. Lowestoft 3-1 Harwich
On summing up the game, Tony told the players that last
five minutes of the first half cost us the game with those two quick goals by
Lowestoft.
I have to say that I was impressed by Paul Harris team talks and his passion
for the game.
