HARWICH & PARKESTON 0
SOHAM TOWN RANGERS 6
1st December 2007
Harwich were looking to extend their recent good form against promotion chasing Soham. On a perfect playing pitch Soham opened their account, Libam’s 9th minute overhead kick in front of goal, left Wootten stranded. Harwich continued to pressurise the Soham defence, Page and Carmichael linking well upfront but against the run of play Turner ran free and weighted pass enabled Jones to tap in Soham’s second. Harwich continued to battle, Hughes going close for the home side, placing his header just wide of the Soham upright. However the visitors extended their lead on the stroke of half-time, Furnell heading a pinpoint cross into the corner of the Harwich net.
Harwich had their share of possession but always the final pass was missing, Soham in contrast with their neat passing and running off the ball were clinical in front of goal and in the 60th minute improved their goal tally, Jimson side footing the ball into an empty net after his first shot had been charged down by Wootten. Furnell made it five from close range and Jones capped the afternoon with a great piece of individual skill to make the final score 6-0.
