HARWICH & PARKESTON 2
NORWICH UNITED 0
3rd November 2007

Winners of the seasons earlier encounter Norwich could feel the happier with the opening 15 minutes, Adam Ferguson carving out Norwich’s first offensive, rising above the Harwich defence but unable to guide the ball on target. In a good spell of pressure Andrew Haydon was dispossessed by Matson as he was about to pull the trigger and Wootten threw himself at the feet of Jermy, the ball spinning away to safety.

In the 19th minute, against the run of play Harwich opened their account, Lee Underwood getting on the end of a speculative Jimmy Chatters clearance and with Matt Hill 12 yards off his line, coolly lobbed the Norwich keeper. The remainder of the half led to few clear cut chances as both midfields battled for supremacy and Harwich went into the interval leading by the solitary goal.

In the 49th minute a rapier assault from Harwich extended their lead, Jimmy Chatters cutting in from the left and curling shot deceived Hill, the ball nestling neatly in the corner of the Norwich net.

Norwich lacked that cutting edge upfront, Ryan Haynes coming closest driving a free-kick through the Harwich wall into the arms of Wootten. In contrast Harwich looked a threat going forward, a confident Underwood turning on the edge of the box in the 75th minute and shot that pinged off the upright with the keeper beaten. Frustration crept into Norwich’s game, both Romano and Ferguson picking up yellows.
