HAVERHILL ROVERS U18s 0
HARWICH & PARKESTON U18s 4
11th October 2007
Harwich chalked up their seventh consecutive victory in
this entertaining encounter at Hamlet Road.
The early pressure came from Haverhill with Harwich keeper, Elliot Harrison,
forced to save with an outstretched foot after the home centre forward was
allowed a free run on goal.
From that point onwards the visitors began to dominate the game and after
seventeen minutes Dom Warren opened the scoring with a precision header after
patient build up play on the right flank by Phil Taylor, Lee Sharpe and Dan
Harrison.
Harwich were unfortunate not to add to their lead when a fifteen pass move,
initiated by captain Michael Hammond, culminated in a Luke Good header
skimming the crossbar.
After the interval Haverhill clearly had instructions to deny Harwich width
and close down the Harwich back four where Daryl Johnston in particular had
been controlling the game with quick intelligent passing. The tactic played
into the visitors hands who exploited the space behind the Haverhill defence
with clinical counter attacking play; the ever impressive Ollie Mann scoring a
quick fire hat-trick.
The visitors withstood some late Haverhill pressure before being generously
applauded from the pitch by the appreciative home supporters.
