ST MARGARETSBURY
1
HARWICH & PARKESTON 1
22nd September 2007
Robbie
May made several changes to the team, Ben Bull coming in at right back, Adam
Bloss going to left back, Martin Calver dropping back into midfield and Steve
Townes starting up front.
The game kicked off at a furious pace, as both sides were trying to control
midfield. Harwich let Bury back into the game as they had several shots at the
Harwich goal but were well off target. Harwich started to turn things round and
put Bury under pressure, Bury’s goal keeper made a great save from a Calver
shot. Harwich finally went ahead after 30 minutes, Calver playing a great one
two with Townes, who smashed the ball into the net.
Second half started where it had left from the first half with Harwich being put
under pressure, in the 57 minute Bury were awarded a corner kick, Steve Barker
rose above the Harwich defence to head home a great goal. From then on it was
end to end football both sides had opportunities to score, Lee Matson was out
standing in the heart of the Harwich back four. After ninety minutes it ended
1-1, extra time kicked off, both sides looking for the winning goal. It was end
to end again with both sides missing chances, Ed Wooten was forced to making a
great save in the last few minutes of the second half of extra time. It is game
Harwich should have won they now have to do it again on Tuesday night at the
Royal Oak final score 1-1
My man of the match is Lee Matson.
