DEREHAM 3
HARWICH & PARKESTON 3
22nd December 2007
Robbie May made two changes from last weeks game, both Calver & Murray were unavailable today so both the Chatters brothers started, Matson dropping into the back four.
Within a minute of the kick-off Dereham were one up, Dereham caught the Harwich defence napping and after a great save from Wootten, Dereham centre forward taped home the rebound to take an early lead. Harwich pushed forward for the equaliser and caused them all sorts of problems but against the run of play on 13 minutes Dereham were awarded a penalty after Jimmy Chatters bought down one of Dereham forwards and from the spot kick they scored their second. Harwich fought back and it was end to end, Morley on 36 minutes let fly one hell of a shot which clipped the cross bar, after 40 minutes Jimmy Chatters went one better connecting with a Tony Chatters cross to make the half-time score 2-1
Second half kicked off at a great pace after 60 minutes it was Jimmy
Chatters again that cut in from the left to score a great goal to put Harwich
on level terms. It was great football to watch from both teams but it was
Dereham that were soon in front again with a great shot from 25 yards, at that
stage it was goal of the game until the 78th minute when skipper, Lee Matson,
pulled one back with a great volley from the edge of the area which gave the
keeper no chance to make the score 3-3 . With two minutes remaining Ed Wootten
made the save of the game to give Harwich a deserved draw. Twelve months ago,
after going two down the heads of the Harwich players would have dropped, not
any more they never give up these days. It was a great result for Harwich
today to gain their first draw of the season. I must say a big thank you to
the Dereham officials for the way they looked after us.
I would like to wish every one A HAPPY CHRISTMAS and see you all at Stanway on
boxing day
